How it works

Three steps. All of them count.

Otter isn't another deck of faces. It's a short path from honest answers to introductions that already have somewhere to go.

01

Answer what matters

Begin answering the initial 60 questions, working through topics like values, lifestyle, humor, and goals.

  • Prompts are designed to surface day-to-day life and long-term intent, not performative bios.
  • Share what you want, when you want. Every answer makes your introductions better. That's all they are ever used for.
  • Your selections become the signal we organize, nothing we invent.

Answer session

A partner says 'I just need a night to myself.' First feeling, honestly?

02

Unlock introductions

Once you've answered your initial 60 questions, it will unlock your first daily discovery list, consisting of 5 people we think you'd match well with. After that, each day you will need to answer an additional 3 questions to unlock a new discovery list. There are no right answers, only true ones. You can skip anything that doesn't fit. It's a little more work than other apps ask. It's also the reason every introduction here means something.

  • Your matches are earned with honesty, not bought with upgrades.
  • Filters and preferences still apply. Your age range, your distance, your dealbreakers, all honoured, in both directions.
  • We feel sixty answers is enough to introduce you honestly. Fewer, and we'd be guessing like everyone else.

03

Intentional suggestions

Each set of people in your discovery are chosen for a reason. We think it's important to know that reason before being introduced to their profile.

  • Why You Two highlights only some of the concrete overlapping themes from answers you both gave.
  • Conversation sparking prompts come from the commonalities you share, not generic openers.
  • When you both like each other, you match. Then, the connection has a head start.
