Security

Your data, guarded like it matters. Because it does.

Sixty honest answers is a lot of trust. Here's what we do to deserve it.

How we protect your data

Everything you send to Otter travels encrypted, and everything we store is encrypted where it lives.

Payments are handled by Stripe, a global payment processor. Your card number never touches our servers, and we never see it.

Access to member data is limited to the few people who need it to run Otter, and that access is logged.

Verification selfies do one job: proving you're real. Once that's done, they're deleted, and they're never shown to anyone.

Delete your account, and your answers are deleted with it. This isn't a setting buried somewhere; it's how the system works.

Privacy

Your privacy doesn't end at this page: what we collect, why, and what happens to it are laid out in plain language in our Privacy Policy. The short version never changes: your data isn't the product, and it isn't for sale.

Found a vulnerability?

We welcome reports from the security research community. If you believe you've found a security vulnerability in Otter, email [email protected] and we'll respond promptly. We ask that you give us reasonable time to fix any issue before sharing it publicly, that you avoid accessing other members' data while investigating, and that you don't run denial-of-service attacks or automated scanning tools against our systems. Good-faith reports are always welcome, never punished.

For anything about your own account or another member, our support channel is the right door: [email protected].
